how far can i walk?

So my podimeter and me....
first day- dropped it in the toliet. opps
second day- 1,702 steps (lazy!)
third day- 6,789 steps (over 4 miles)
so i am pretty impressed
if i just focus i can force myself to walk further.
so today we are trying for 8,000
and i already have 1,000 steps at 9:30.
just walking back and forth at work.

in other workout news
we went to the gym for the first time in a week
it's been a busy week
and i am not used to getting my heart rate up there
so we are going today again
and then bodypump on Wednesday

back on track....

stepping it up

i got a pedometer and i have a goal
walk 10,000 steps at the end of a month
this is the what steps mean....

Classification of pedometer-determined physical activity in healthy adults:
1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index"
2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active."
3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or walking (and/or a job that requires more walking) and might be considered "somewhat active."
4) 10,000 steps/day indicates the point that should be used to classify individuals as "active".
5) Individuals who take more than 12,500 steps/day are likely to be classified as "highly active".

so i want to stop being sedentary and start lossing
so
Sedentary people in the USA generally move only 2000-3000 steps a day. Previous studies have shown that moving 6000 steps a day significantly reduces risk of death, and 8000-10,000 a day promotes weight loss.
i need 8000 to 10,000 steps a day
so one month
and i am going to track every day
and see how i do.

tommorow i will let you know about my steps for today...
that will be the normal bottom no effort stepage
:)
